In this article, we'll look at the creation of polygons and several basic principles of editing polygons.
Creating Polygons
To draw polygons make sure you have the correct layer selected from the drop-down layer menu (typical polygon layers include polygons, anchors, and kiosks), and you are in Draw Mode (E).
To create a polygon using the grid and snap-to-grid features you can press (B) and (G) on your keyboard
To create a polygon, right-click to place a vertex and continue to right-click to outline the shape you wish to create.
Once finished, left-click anywhere on the map to deselect the new polygon you just created.
If 2 polygons are part of the same layer, the one on top will be the only one you can select. To overcome this, select the polygon covering the one you would like to select, and click Move to Back (M) found under the Edit menu. If the polygons are on different layers, you can always hide the one on top by toggling its visibility in the layer drop-down menu.
Editing Polygons
Once created, several edits can be made to polygons using many different tools. To begin any edit, follow the below steps:
Navigate to the correct layer using the layer menu
Select Draw Mode (E), and
Left-click on the polygon you wish to edit.
Editing Polygon Vertices
Some examples of basic edits to existing polygons that you can make are:
To add a new vertex to a polygon, right-click on the map where you would like to place the new vertex. Continue to do this until you have created your desired shape. Once complete, left-click anywhere on the map to deselect the polygon.
To delete a vertex, left-click on the vertex you wish to remove, it will turn pink. When ready, press the delete key on your keyboard.
To change the shape of the polygon without adding or removing any vertexes, left-click on a vertex hold and drag where you would like to place it.
While using in Draw Mode you can double click on a polygon to select all of its vertices and then rotate it by dragging near the corner. This can also be done by using the Move Tool.
